WCCI works to replace carbon emitting products (often imported) and practices with those that produce less greenhouse gas emissions, conserve natural resources, are naturally regenerative, and create local jobs for women. Jobs, supplemental income and new business ventures are possible as local people master technologies to build, install and maintain these solutions that are relatively easy to deploy and yet highly effective climate mitigating technologies. Some of the climate smart technologies that WCCI deploys include:
Fireless and Low Smoke Cook Stoves: Reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce deforestation, improve unhealthy consequences of smoke inhalation.
Biogas Digester: Produces a biofuel that that is created locally from manure. This reduces wood burning and associated impacts.
Ecosan Toilet: WCCI builds and teaches this regenerative waste option that creates a fertilizer from human waste.
Water Tanks: Built with locally made interlocking stabilized soil blocks to collect rainwater. Allows communities to conserve precious water and adapt to periods of drought.
